Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Rincón De La Vieja National Park

Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Day 1. Upon arrival to Liberia International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to Rincón de la Vieja (approximately 15 miles northeast of the city of Liberia, the capital of the Guanacaste Province).

Rincón de la Vieja hosts a wide variety of tropical forests, including dwarf cloud and montane ecosystems.

Exotic and rare flora and fauna find refuge here including kinkajous, pumas, a variety of monkeys, sloths, tapirs, and jaguars. This is a great bird watching photography tour.

Rare emerald toucanets and blue-crowned motmots glow in the sunlight along with vibrant fuschia and purple Guaria Morada orchids. Laurel and Guanacaste trees form canopies for birds and mammals to live in.

Day 2

Rincón De La Vieja National Park

Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Day 2. La Victoria Waterfall is a place for the adventurous ones. It is accessed through a steep trail. When it reaches the Colorado River, there is an 115feet/ 35-meter-high waterfall. The canyon surrounding the area has a different vegetation and depth. It is located 1.8miles/3 km. from Hacienda Guachipelín.

At the foot of the Victoria waterfall, we’ll have a short briefing about security before we begin our canyoning adventure. To move yourself by cable, experience the effects of the swing going through the Victoria waterfall, jumping in to the pool while rappelling, and as desert climbing the wall of the cascade. After this great tour ends we’ll get changed again and let the bus take us back to the Hacienda.

  • Bring: Swimsuit, quick-dry shorts and shirt, either closed-toe river shoes or sneakers, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Day 3

Rincón De La Vieja National Park

Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Day 3. Enjoy non-stop fun and excitement bouncing and splashing down five km (three miles) of Class II and III rapids along this narrow, rushing river of crystal-clear water. There are plenty of quiet pools along the way to appreciate the beautiful tropical scenery of the Rio Negro (Black River). Our special, individual river tube rafts are designed with handles and protective bottoms. Guides go with you and ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the duration of your experience.

Part of your river tubing adventure includes riding our trusty Costa Rican ranch horses from Hacienda Guachipelín along scenic trails through the forest to get to the river.

Please take into consideration that the required minimum age is 8 years old and must be at least 1,40 cm height to be able to take the tour.

  • Bring: hat, swimsuit, bug spray, change of clothes, waterproof camera and strap-on shoes or sandals that can get wet (NO flipflops)

Day 4

Nosara

Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Day 4. Defined by its worries-by-the-wayside attitude and shorelines untainted by commercialism, Nosara is a small-town famous for its yoga and surf.

Many people know it as “No shoes, no shirt, Nosara,” which aptly sums things up. Located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the Guanacaste region, the traditional village of Nosara sits six kilometers inland, although the beaches attract the biggest draw.

For decades, Nosara has been protected by the national park system, in addition to longstanding efforts of local citizens to ensure that this unspoiled forest and beach destination remains as such.

Thanks to local restrictions that only allow small-scale developments, this skyline is dominated by gorgeous sunsets that drift ceaselessly into the ocean and beautiful Nosara beach hotels.

Nosara has three different beaches: Playa Guiones, Playa Nosara and Playa Pelada. It goes without saying, but sunsets are a must.

Day 5

Nosara

Costa Rica Ancient Trails & Beaches Tour Day 5. Today is all about fun in the sun!

We’ll start from the basics and teach you how the surfboard works, proper paddling technique, placement on the surfboard and introduce you to the basics of “pop-up” technique, water safety / ocean awareness, the “Turtle Roll”, surf stance (Goofy or Regular foot), white water rides. This afternoon you may choose to enjoy the area as you wish.

  • Bring: swimsuit, sun block lotion, extra clothing and hat.
